International Applicants

The Academy welcomes applicants from around the world. The application process is the same for everyone, with a few additional requirements for international students. Our admissions team will guide you through every step.

Additional requirements for international applicants

International applicants follow the same application process, with three additional requirements: two during the application, and visa support after acceptance. Everything else is the same. Same portfolio, same deadlines, same scholarships.

Your post-secondary transcripts, plus a US-equivalency evaluation if they are from outside the US. Approved evaluation services are listed below.

If English is not your first language, you will submit a TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo score. Exemptions apply if you have completed a degree at a US institution or one where English is the primary language of instruction.

After acceptance, our team will help you through the F-1 visa process. Support begins immediately.

Email [email protected] or schedule a portfolio review.

Transcripts &
evaluation

Submit official transcripts from every post-secondary institution you have attended. If your transcripts are not in English, you will also need a US-equivalency evaluation and a certified English translation.

Transcripts must be sent directly from your institution to the Academy. We accept electronic transcripts through eSCRIP-SAFE, Naviance, Student Clearinghouse, and other verified services, or paper transcripts by mail.

If your transcripts are not in English, you will need a certified translation. Most evaluation services above also offer certified translation as part of their service. If you need translation only:

Other NACES-accredited services are also accepted. The full list is at naces.org. If your evaluator is not on this list, email [email protected]. We can review other providers.

Scholarships for
international students

International applicants are eligible for the same merit-based and need-based scholarships as domestic students. Indicate your interest on the application form, and submit a complete application by your program’s deadline to be considered.

RECOMMENDED: APPLY BY EARLY CONSIDERATION
Early applicants get priority for scholarships, and more time to handle visa
documentation, financial planning, and travel arrangements.

Student visas

Accepted international students apply for the F-1 student visa. The Academy issues your I-20 form after acceptance, along with guidance on the visa application process.

PLAN AHEAD: FUNDING DOCUMENTATION
F-1 visa issuance requires proof of funds for at least the first year. We encourage international applicants to plan for the full length of the program. Outside funding sources for international students are limited.
